Selected Examples of Previous Practice
The
majority of my practice to date has been focused on handmade mark making, the
processes of causal systems and the effect of unpredictability and chance. I make
each work within predetermined parameters, applying controlled and labor
intensive techniques as a means of describing a system. Each mark in a work is
unique and records a moment in time and physical action but as the system runs its
course, it illuminates the moments of chance that always exists when we press a
tool against a surface. Control is always partial. Individual marks interact
with each other, forming relationships that exceed the initial parameters and
unpredictable images emerge.
