At Arm's Length.

At Arm's Length.

This series of experiments represents a continuation of the scroll work, considering Rebecca Horn's Bodylandscapes drawing series (2004) where she uses large format paper to explore the limitations of the body, as a type of documentation of performing drawing and the body. As space for me too work in is limited, the works follows a panoramic format. This obviously limits the amount of physical action to left and right, and very little up and down, but this limitation plays an interesting role as it continues the temporal element of the scroll work.

for these works I have used several sheets of paper connected using masking tape, for further experiments I intend to use scroll like format paper so the surface is an uninterrupted piece of paper.

I have had concerns with the previous scroll work as it has immediate connotations to eastern art, specifically Tao and Zen landscape scrolls, which though I am certainly referencing, I do not want that reference to be overt.
