It has been quite a while since I have posted on here, the reason being that I have been exploring new avenues of inquiry in relation to my work. I have been digging in at night, losing sleep, welcoming dawns with incredible head aches, experiencing mind bending magnification and mutating my mind. Though this new work presented below is fairly removed from previous work there are certain similarities, especially the technique applied to achieve the images.

Where before I was exploring the individuals experience of an image, asking them to define the work they are presented through their own perception, drawing up emotions and memories that may fit what is happening within the suggested narratives of our masked friends and the environments they are inhabiting. I now look at the theories of chaos and the quantum as sources of inspiration and try and apply them to thoughts of the individual. for example, what is the reality of the individual when applied to the atomic structure,? we consider our selves to be singular but in reality we are made up of billions of minute components
( which themselves are made of their own components, electron, neutron and proton), the conspiring of atoms to form the physical entity that we refer to as the individual. this sense of the group as the individual exists on all levels, for example we as individuals belong to family units, those individual units belong to communities like towns who are referred to individual groups within the context of politics and sport teams. Then we have the wider view the country as an individual , further still the Continent and beyond to the planet, solar system, galaxy and universe. All considered individuals within their contexts, think of this, the earth is like an atom within the body of the universe. are we the electrons of that atom?

Could the images be a self portrait? the immediate view of the image presents itself as just a large circle but on closer inspection we see its components, its character is revealed, the marks themselves having their own character, each of them having their own density their own shape, their own relationship with those around them, having their responsibility in the definition of the larger body.

It was from this point I started considering chaos theory theory in relation to the individual experience, In the images as discussed we see the individuals responsibility to wards the outcome, this sensitivity at the beginning of the image is interesting, the sense that the original mark made on the page will ultimately decide how the whole will look, its density position and other factors will define its neighbours and their differences will define their neighbours and so on till the image is finished. when following certain parameters within a set formula, every time the the formula is repeated the result will always be different. no two image will be the same. when applied to the individual there are similarities, for example when we are born we are relatively the same we are born with 2 arms, 2 legs, one brain and so on. we have two parents, we have rules that apply to our development that is handed down through the species. but there are differences that we are born with, differences like the original mark, for example certain hereditary traits, race, sex, nationality will cause our lives to be very different from everyone else. as we grow these traits will define where we go next, with all the events of our lives will affecting and defining us as the whole individual we become.

three sets of 1000 marks within 7cm diameter, produced by 3 people, its interesting to see the difference in each persons version, is the personality of the individual revealed through the image? is this a self portrait? you would asssume with a very simple formula the results would be very similar, but in fact they are wonderfully different, the unpredictable nature of the indvidual is so fascinating.

Here we are, in my pursuit of drawing and painting on ridiculous scales, I have created some bits of equipment for the task at hand, their obviously a bit makeshift but they have proved very useful so far, their made from the lenses of binoculars, telescopes, slide viewers and spectacles. if anyone has any thing they don't need and wouldn't mind donating along these lines or anything that might be useful please get in contact! I'm also looking for things like small torches, orbital torch glasses, surgeons glasses, dentist glasses, model making lenses, glasses frames, magnifying glasses, mechano, and ideas or advice for ways of bonding that are a little more sturdy than masking tape and construction.

Hello Dear friends.

I have come to the conclusion that I have neglected my responsibilities in relation to the up keep of this portal to another dimension, I have recently embarked on a voyage into the unknown world of Creation, all kinds of fantastical subject matter is flooding my mind in a deluge that is akin to a tidal wave, So I feel I will brief you on my marching orders, I will dedicate more time to spreading my subconscious meanderings in the form of weekly image deposits in the hopes that you my dear pilgrims, will be able to transcend through the horrors of everyday reality.

I would like to outline some of my areas of interest, concerns and queries. My aims are to raise questions of what it is to be human, conscious and to exist. I believe that these things should not be immediately revealed but instead left for the viewer to discover through consideration and personal contemplation, in the hopes they will find definition individually. the experience should be a personal journey, allowing them not to be dictated by a dominant meaning, instead lead passively towards a relevant conclusion. Their are many ambiguous narratives in the work that are never resolved, they act as a tool, giving the opportunity to explore and compare with personal ideologies, morals and principals.

I am exploring these questions in relation to such things as quantum theory and relativity principles, drawing inspiration from such physicists such as Hugh Everett III and Erwin Schrödinger, Einstein and Stephen Hawkins. though my grasp and understanding of these areas is limited, I find great inspiration from their possibilities, I feel this links closely to my interest in areas of philosophical exploration including Metaphysics, Existentialism, Nihilism, Abstraction , Ontology. I am also drawing much inspiration from film, literature and music, through occasionally referencing peices of music or quotes in the title or drawing influence for subject matter helps to set moods, though this must be carefully considered so as not to reveal to much to the viewer.

These are just a few areas of interest but as with everything they are evolving everyday.
